Is it possible to only send notifications for selected comments?

Hello, in our Jira system the comments are used for communication with the reporter but also for communication with the other people who are working on the ticket. Therefore in the comment section very technical things are discussed. The Reporter should get noifications if the Assignee selects that the comment is relevant for him. So the question is: Is it possible to only send notifications to the Reporter for selected comments?

Not directly. The user can restrict the visibility of the comment to project roles or groups they belong but not to the reporter. The user can select only the role/group they are in so the reporter wouldn't be able to see it. I haven't tested it, but if the comment can't be seen by the reporter JIRA may not send an email about it. For comments the reporter should see don't restrict the visibility.
