Is it possible to make searches for information in a custom field?

In the Jira project, we have a Context field named "Project resolution" and we would like to be able to search for tickets based on data in this field.
Right now we can search for the data in the name and description in tickets, but the information in Project resolution is not searchable.

Do you get an error message? How are you trying to search? 

One thing to check is got to Settings > Issues > Custom Fields

Search for the custom field Project resolution. Then click on the 3 dots menu and select Edit Details.

Make sure there is a value in the Search Template field.
