Is it possible to have a field such that the values of which are different for different user groups

Is it possible to have a field (standard or custom) such that the values of which are different for different user groups within the same Jira project.

For example, when component field values are configured, every user within the project sees the same values to choose from. We would like them to see different values based on the user group they belong to. 

Is this a possibility?

Fields in Jira are (rightly) suposed to be telling the viewers the same message.  having different views based on who someone is, essentially is a "lie".  People need to see data and form their own opinions, not to be lied to.

Tell everyone the same thing, be honest and open, and let people work from good info.
