Is it possible to customize different Defect Id from User Story sequence?

Hi All,

In JIRA under a project User stories and Defects will get the same sequence like Proj001, Proj002. Can we customize this sequence generation to have different sequence for User stories and defects like Proj-US-001, Proj-US-002 for user stories and Similarly for defects Proj-Def-001, Proj-Def-002.

No.  The key is for the project, not the issue types.  You'd need to put stories and defects in their own projects to do this.

You can create your own JIRA Issue Key patterns but it's very limited. The JIRA issue sequence pattern can be defined in the Advance Setting of JIRA and it will be applied to all projects, you cannot control it by Issue type.
