Is it possible to create a pre-defined template/text for a type of Issue?

Alejandro Sejas March 26, 2021

I know we can add custom text to an issue type in Next-Gen projects (Project Settings > Issue Types > Bug > Select the field), but I couldn't find the way to do it on older scrum projects.

Hi Alejandro - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You can probably accomplish this with Automation For Jira. Can you be more specific in your need? Or an exact example of what you would like to see?

hi John, just like in the attached screenshot (next-gen project), we use a Bug template to pre-fill some headlines in the Description field, like: Steps, Actual and Expected results. And we want to implement that on other Projects that are not next-gen but couldn't find a way to do it.

Hi @Alejandro Sejas

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I found this suggestion to generalize the defaulting of fields for issue creation, including considering this for Classic (company-managed projects):

Best regards,

Bill
