Is it possible to configure in Jira a summation of time estimates for task or story from sub-tasks

Vitali Shtyk April 16, 2019

My team appreciates sub-tasks well, as this is a small and well-understood task. We estimate Stoty at stoty points, but for clarity in planning, I would like to see in the task the sum of the estimated time for the sub-task in a story or task.

Tell me whether it is possible to make this setting in Jira.
Sorry for my English

Hello Vitali,

Welcome to Atlassian community!

There are three searchable fields on each task that provide you with the sum of estimations in the related sub-tasks + the time estimation of the task itself (If there are any values).

Here they are:

Σ Remaining Estimate

Σ Original Estimate

Σ Time Spent

You can configure columns on the issue navigator to check these fields (List View):

Hello Vitali,

Can you please let us know if you are using JIRA Server or Cloud?

Per your screenshot, you are currently using the Detail View. To switch for the List View in Cloud and most of the JIRA Server version, you can use the button in the right side of the filter bar (Change view type):

Hello Vitali,

You are saying that you were not able to find none of the three mentioned fields in the Columns drop-down? Please, notice that the Original Estimate column in your screenshot it's not the same as Σ Original Estimate.

You are not been able to find the fields by clicking on the columns drop-down, can you please provide us a screenshot displaying what fields appear for you when you search for them? Here's the drop-down I'm talking about:

Hello Vitali,

You can navigate to your board > Click in the three dots menu at the top-right corner > Board settings > Card layout

Add the fields to your Backlog and Active Sprint view - It will be the last ones in the list:

Petter Gonçalves

I added to my filter list view the "Sum Original Estimate" column, but I can't see the Sum (expected to see a line that presents the Sum)
