Is inserting images in Description and Comment text broken for anyone else?

We're in Cloud migration testing at the moment, and notice that we cannot insert images into issue description or comment text.

Yes new image attachments can be added to the issue, but there doesn't seem to be a way to insert the image (or thumbnail) into a description or comment.

We use this feature heavily in Jira Server - as a team of engineers we frequently use images to describe problems, processes, and designs.

Are others out there using this feature in Jira Software Cloud?

After searching I found an issue JRACLOUD-72208 about inserting an attached image into a comment. But this whole insert image feature seems to be broken.

Is Atlassian dropping this feature?

This turned out to be due to incorrect project permissions. DOH!

After adding granting access to Create attachments the feature is now working.

The UI doesn't give any clues (no error messages), so it took us a while to figure out.
