I wanted to know if SAML SSO supported on Cloud and On -Premise Server on the latest versions?
I see there was no SSO provision on on older versions, 2017 and prior.
Any updated information on this is highly appreciated
Yes on both. You will need to add (and pay for) Atlassian Access subscription on Cloud. This is where the SAML functionality comes from. Currently, only the authentication function is performed. This means that you will need to manually maintain your users and group memberships in Cloud. There is no way to pull users and group membership currently from your SAML provider.
For Server, you have a few options. SAML is not natively supported, so you will need to purchase a SAML app from Marketplace. There are a number of vendors that have a SAML app for Jira and Confluence, so you have some choices. We have found that the ones from Resolution (Jira and Confluence) are the most flexible and work in the widest range of situations, so we have been recommending their apps to our clients.
You didn't ask, but in the interest of full disclosure, Atlassian also offers Data Center versions of self hosted products. These offer high availability and easy scalability. They natively support SAML at no additional cost. Currently only authentication (no user or group syncing) is available, though.
