I ask this question as we are a new company and creating our initial JIRA projects. If Next-Gen is the future direction of JIRA, then we will platform on it and wait for any items missing to future development.
If the classic JIRA will always be around, then we will platform on it as it is more mature and I would assume Atlassian would make sure both flavors of JIRA have the same functionality.
I am just unsure if Next-Gen is a new flavor of JIRA or the future direction of the software.
Community input would be appreciated
thanks
i'm not sure you will get a definitive answer here but certainly a number of opinions. :-)
Executive Speak - I will say that Atlassian is clearly investing in NG as the future so if you can live w/ the limitations then you won't go wrong with starting on NG. After attending the last three Summits I feel comfortable w/ that statement.
Personal View - I primarily use Classic as that is where I started and I simply can't live with the current limitations of NG. I like the simplicity of NG for projects that don't require lots of flexibility, e.g. workflow customizations.
Thanks for you feedback, have decided to proceed with Next-Gen
