No, they are separate fields (well, Key isn't really a "field").
External ID is intended for imports and mapping to other systems - it's usually used to store the unique key or identifier for something in another system.
Thanks for your response. I am doing Copado Jira Integration. In Copado under projects, I need to give external id. But I am not finding this Jira. Where it is present.

External ID is a custom field that used to be added by Jira automatically, but has been dropped (this is because it's not needed by people who are not migrating from other systems, and that's the case for a lot more of the customers now)
A lot of us find we want to add it when we do integrations with other systems, or migrations from them.
However, the way you have phrased your new comment suggests that you do not mean the "External ID" field in Jira, but a field in Copado that is probably intended for the same purpose - recording another system's reference to something.
That changes my answer a lot. In Copado, I would use the External ID to store the Jira issue key. So, yes, "External ID" (Copado) is the same as "Issue Key" (Jira).
If the field is long enough, I would actually store the whole url in Copado to save the users time - it's easier for them to get "https://<your jira>/browse/ISSUE-123" from Copado than have to open browser on your Jira and type ISSUE-123 into the search or build the url themselves.

Could you give more info what the External Id means?
