Integrating Atlassian Rovo with GitHub CI/CD Pipelines: MCP Server Setup and Best Practices

Yashwant Choudhary
January 14, 2026

I'm working on building a use case that integrates Atlassian Rovo with CI/CD scenarios, specifically leveraging GitHub for our development workflows. A critical component of this integration involves setting up and working with an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server.

Objectives

  1. Enable Rovo to interact with GitHub repositories during CI/CD pipeline execution
  2. Set up an MCP server to facilitate communication between Rovo and GitHub Actions
  3. Implement intelligent automation where Rovo can:
    • Analyze code changes in pull requests
    • Provide context-aware insights during builds
    • Assist with automated testing and deployment decisions
    • Query and interact with project documentation and codebase

Wow, that sounds great @Yashwant Choudhary

It's good to know that people such as yourself are willing to expend possibly hundreds of hours doing all the required research, design and testing to create such an integration as you've described, which pushes the boundaries of what can be done with the new MCP Server and Rovo agents.

Once you have expended the time and effort to do all that yourself, it would be great if you could please provide a detailed overview of how you did it all, so that others can follow the setup procedures and best practices that you establish.

Thanks in advance
