The insert elements dialog in the Jira Cloud text editor is no longer active by default. This means if you select text, go to the Insert Elements dialog and search for an element, the text you selected is still active and gets overwritten. It used to be that this dialog became active when you selected it, which is preferred for fast editing workflows.
Can this dialog be made active once you select the Insert Elements button?
Hi @Evan Klauda
I can't reproduce this in multiple sites.
If I select text and then select the element info panel, my selected text is in the info panel.
No text is overwritten.
Hi @Marc - Devoteam , thank you for looking at this. You're correct that when you click on an element, it works as expected. But if you search for an element via typing, immediately after clicking on the Insert Elements button, then it doesn't think you're typing in the search bar and instead you're still typing in the Description/Comment field. It used to be that when you clicked on the Insert Elements button, you could immediately start typing in the Search field to find an element.

Hi @Evan Klauda
I never noticed this, as I always use the / in the description to pick an element.
You might want to report this to Atlassian Support
