Hi there
I'm trying to populate JIRA with all my projects, epics, stories and sub-tasks and ideally I would like to do this with the minimum number of CSV files possible.
Currently if I want to import a csv file of tasks, it appears to limit to a particular project, whereas I would like to upload epics to multiple projects in one go. And then after that I would like to only have to create one more csv file to upload all the stories/tasks/sub-tasks under each of those epics ...
Is this possible?
Currently based on options available on the screen when I click import issues, this does not appear to be the case. I do not want to be creating 20 different CSV files just to upload a list of issues to JIRA as this does not appear to be efficient nor helpful to managing multiple projects.
Please can you assist?
Hello @Margaret Rozali
It's possible to import issues into multiple projects using the CSV importer
From the above link
Importing issues into multiple projects
You can import issues from your CSV file into different projects through a CSV file import. To do this:
Your CSV file requires two additional columns whose headings should be named similarly to Project Name and Project Key.
Ensure that every issue represented in your CSV file contains the appropriate name and key in these columns for the projects to which they will be imported.
(info) The project name and key data is the minimum project data required for importing issues from a CSV file into specific projects.
Please use CSV Import in the admin section, using

Hi Tarun
Thanks for your help!
I saw the info on that csv file on the help system, but when I tried importing the file it still only allowed me to import into a specific project.
I see by your second comment I need to be an admin to do this. That's why I couldn't do it.
Is there a reason only admins can do this? Is there a way for all users to have this option? If they can't override existing issues and any duplicates that arise from an import get notified to an admin, then that should hopefully help?
thanks.

Hello @Margaret Rozali
CSV import is provided in two ways by Jira. One for normal Users and other for Admins. Admins have much more options available when importing CSV file in jira thus my suggestion to you is to try via an admin account or contact your local admin.

There's an "administration" cog at the top-right of the screen, next to your profile icon

My profile icon is on the bottom left of the webpage...
On the left this is the menu I get when I open up jira (see screenshot below):
And on the right is the dashboard
and top right is the following screenshot:

Ok, you're on Cloud, which has a non-intuitive interface. Look for "settings" in the middle of the left-had bar under the "project" part.
Like the admin cog in the good UI, it will only appear if you have admin rights.
