Hi,

We are looking to migrate Trello boards into Jira Software (Data Center). There seems no in-built function other than exporting a Trello board as a CSV (loosing all comments, file attachments, labels, etc.) to then import from CSV into a Jira project.

I am being told that Atlassian customer support can help with this.

Hi Dietrich,

Currently within Jira Data Center the only import options are CSV and JSON file data. As you noted there is no built in option to import from Trello into Data Center. The recommended approach is to leverage the CSV import when bringing data into Data Center from Trello. There is a Trello Importer within the Jira Cloud, but that functionality does not currently exist in the Data Center releases.

There may also be potential Marketplace or Third Party Apps that can assist with getting the content exported from Trello to include things like comments. For example, this Board Export advertises that comments can be exported from Trello. I have not personally used this third party app however to confirm any limitations in this functionality. It is noted on this site there are limitations on certain field exports based on formatting of the export.

Having said that, if you would like to see functionality like a dedicated Trello importer potentially added to the Jira Data Center, you can create a Suggestion here which our product team will review for potential inclusion in a later release of DC.

Best,
Andy
