Hi Ncumisa,

You don't create "folders" in Jira. You can create Components or Labels the will help group your issues for querying and reporting purposes. Is that what you are looking for? What problem or need are you actually trying to solve?

Hi @Ncumisa Booi

as John said, you can't really have folders in Jira; the closest that you can do is to group your issues by their issue fields.

If you want to visually group your issues, Jira's list view offers grouping for a handful of fields (I believe by Status, Assignee, and Priority, but I'm not 100% sure). Alternatively, if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you'll find more advanced options there; I'll add more information below.

Hope this helps,

Best,

Hannes

Just to expand on the last point: If you'd like to group your issues by any field (including any custom field), or would be interested in nested grouping (i.e., grouping your issues by multiple fields), you may want to have a look at the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a long list of advanced features - including issue grouping by any issue field(s) - and works across any number of projects.

This is how it looks in action:

I'm grouping by the Components field here, but you could also group by any other fields. Issue grouping also works in combination with JXL's other advanced features, such as support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

Any questions just let me know!
