We are planning to start to using  JIRA for 500+ users. which one would be better Linux based or Windows based

Hi @Meena Gurumurthy  and welcome to our Community!

I don't think there's much difference between these two options as long as you have enough resources and your system meets all the requirements. It's more of what are your admins comfortable to work with. 

I, for example, prefer Linux. It may be more light-weight and it's easier to script something.

Thanks much Girigory.   Can you please let me know the hardware requirement for the same. I am thinking Dell Poweredge R730 Intel Xeon E5-2623 v3 3.0GHZ Max Mem 1866 MHZ 16x8 2.4 TB
