I would like to clone and epic and all related issues under it; this would enable me to re-use issues for different releases.

Like for example regression which would have the same base set every release.

Jira does not yet have a native way to clone an epic along with all the issues in it.   But this kinds of request has been asked before on the site.  Check out https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/How-do-I-set-Epic-clones-to-include-Tasks-and-Sub-tasks-when/qaq-p/636742

There are a number of possible solutions though that have already been found via 3rd party plugins to Jira such as scriptrunner, Template (Epic) maker for Jira, or the Issue Template for JIRA specifically has a section on Templates for Epics.

I'm sure there are probably other plugins in our Marketplace site that could help with this kinds of request too.
