Hi
I want to share an jira project with an external client but that client should not see or access or edit other projects in our organization. How can I set up this new project and a board such that client can see this project and board only.
he should be able to create issues, add tasks to backlog etc. and drag the items in the board ?
Thanks
Hi @Yasiru Silva,
First of all, you'll need to make sure your external client has product access to Jira (that means, becomes a licensed user).
Next, you'll have to make sure you set up proper permissions for all your spaces in Jira. That means, check all the permission schemes you have for company managed spaces and make sure not a single space grants the browse project permission to 'Application Access (any logged in user)' - which is unfortunately Atlassian's default behaviour. You'll have to make sure that you grant permissions to all spaces using defined roles and groups, as that gives you control over who can access each space.
For team managed spaces, make sure you don't have any spaces with Open access. That is the equivalent for the application access I just described above, but then for team managed spaces.
Once you have all this in place, you can safely grant your external client the desired permissions on the single space you want to set up for him/her.
Hope this helps!
Hey @Yasiru Silva ,
Good day! Welcome to Atlassian Community!
You may follow the instructions in this document to achieve this:
The information shared by @Walter Buggenhout provides a high level summary, but this article has the detailed steps.
I hope this helps... Thanks!

Grant the external user a Jira license.
Then depending on the type of project you want to use and the existing projects
If you use Team Managed project make sure their access level is set to private.
All users in need of accessing Team Managed projects should be explicitly added to each project (if this is currently not the case).
On Company Managed projects, make sure the roles in the permission scheme(s) are set correctly so when the user is added to a role in this project the user has only the permissions that are needed for this user.

@Yasiru Silva May i ask you what do you mean the external client? does that means the users is not part of the your organization and does not have the access to jira?
As per the description i believe you are talking about the Jira board and if the client does not have access to the jira then they can not be able to access the jira and add the work items to the project.
And if the client/user has the access to the jira then there could be an issue with the project permission.
Thank you
