I have issues in an unreleased version that I want to include in another release. I see that I can merge that entire release into another release but I only want to move some of the items
Just change the 'Fix Version' of the issues that you want to move.
Right this is exactly what I needed to do, but I didn't know how. Turns out I had to drag the work to the backlog and open the versions tab. Then I could drag the item to the "Issues without a Version" box and this allowed me to reassign the version.

you don't need to do it that way. you can perform a search for the current fix version...
fixversion = 3.11 for example
then either edit the ones you want to push out manually one-by-one or use bulk edit, check the ones you want and replace the Fix Version w/ the new version.
