I have a Jira ticket number.  I need to track the progress on such activity.  But I don't know in which application I need to logon to look for the ticket.  We currently have JDC1, JDC2, R&D, Services and so on.   Then, once I know where the ticket is located, Is there special syntax in search window that I have to use to find and browse the ticket ?

Regards,

There's no way to know what Jira installation an issue is in, just from the issue key.

The minimum you need to know is the base url, where the landing page for the system is.

If you have the base url and the issue id, then you don't need to even search - you can see the issue on <base url>/browse/<issue key>

For example, you can get t-shirts with CLOUD-6999 on them.  From that, there's no way to know where you might see it, but I know it's in Atlassian's tracking system (often called JaC or JaCk), which I know has a base url of https://jira.atlassian.com

From that, I can go straight to https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CLOUD-6999 to see it.

Also, once you have a base url, you should be able to log in and use the quick search - type an issue-id into the little search box at the top right, it will take you to the issue (and a little trick - if the issue key you have been given leads to an issue that has been moved and hence has a new project-code and sequence-id, then the quick search will take you to the new one when given the old - AOD-5311, UNIFIED-51 and AOD-6999 all take you to CLOUD-6999 if you search for them.
