How do I delete an issue?

Hi Sandy - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

First, it's not a good idea to delete issues in Jira. It's better to move them to a status of Abandoned or Discarded or Aborted or something like that. The main reason is that once deleted, it is gone forever - there's no getting it back. 

Having said that, to be able to delete and issue, you must have the Delete Issue permission in the Permission Scheme attached to the project.
