I have deleted several tasks of an epic - how can I retreive it?

Evelyne Schmid November 8, 2022

Hi, I wanted to change several tasks of an epic to the subtask of another task.

Unfortunately, this did not happen, and I can't find the tasks anymore.

Do you have any idea how I can retreive the tasks of PS-104?

Thanks for your help.

Evelyne

Hello @Evelyne Schmid and welcome to the Community!

When you say "delete" did you simply remove them from the epic (and they still exist somewhere) or did you delete them from Jira? If the latter, then you'll have to recreate the tasks.

If the former, then if you want to change issues linked to an epic to subtasks of another task, you'll want to use the "Convert to Subtask" option (triple dot button top right of an issue details) and then select the parent issue (or task) that you want to associate this to. If you no longer want the sub-tasks to be associated to the Epic, then you'll want to remove the value in the "Epic Link" field.

Hope this Helps

Hi @Evelyne Schmid@Sam Nadarajan

I represent Revyz, a Atlassian marketplace app provider

As @Sam Nadarajan rightly points out if you have deleted the tasks / issues then they are lost forever.

Thats what inspired us at Revyz to build a backup & restore app for Jira cloud our focus is on granular restore of Jira objects.

We recently added some additional functionality, which includes restore of a single epic and all its associated tasks / issues in a single click.
