Our team was using a free Jira account provided by a client and from past couple of months but now it is asking for the paid membership, Can anyone please help me out in this. Also is there any time period for the free account?

Can you verify that you are at or under the 10 user limit? you will need to do this under settings and user administration. If you are, then you should reach out to Atlassian support and select the billing option For assistance.
