I am not able to add custom fields in the group by option of Jira Plan Views

Purusharth Chauhan September 12, 2024

I have a few custom fields on which I need to group by in Jira Plan

I have added them through "manage custom fields " but still they are not visible in group by drop down. I have tried to add both text fields and drop down.

Strangely some custom fields like "Team " are available

Also standard fields like "Status" are not visible.

Thanks for your repy ! Actually I am trying to logically group issues . I was able to create a view using labels (PSB) . I want to create similar view for other business requirements but I wanted to use a already existing custom drop down field

Thanks for the clarification! You could indeed setup some automation rules that fill either a label, or one of the supported 'Group By' fields to allow this anyway.

Yes, sure , that is what I am thinking. I will look for using labels for other views as well

Thanks for your prompt replies !

@Purusharth Chauhan ,

Welcome to the community!

Sadly, this is not possible. All the fields listed here are in fact system fields (including the default 'Team' field). It's whatever Atlassian has decided to implement, as for each option they'll need to do quite some development/customization to make it work.

What are you trying to visualize? What information is stored in the custom field? :)
