I am finding JIRA less than efficient for Product Management - looking for App recommendations

Deleted user November 11, 2021

Hi everyone

I am new to this recent version of JIRA and there are some limitations that make it difficult for me to manage issues related to my Product Manager roadmap.

  • It is difficult to link my Kanban board to the dev teams Sprints
  • I need a least one more level in the Issue hierarchy, between Story and Subtask
  • In general this is too task driven. Can anyone recommend any good JIRA apps that are specifically for Product Managers?

Hi, @[deleted]. You have been provided with two possible suggestions, but there are any number of apps that you might consider.  There's even an available integration between Jira and Aha! ("The worldʼs #1 roadmap software" — according to the Aha! website).

In other words, you have many choices. :)

I suggest you learn how to create your own Atlassian Marketplace searches to help you find apps. you may wish to try.  The customer provided ratings and reviews, the total number installations, and the Atlassian badging and certifications are all indicators you can use to determine which are most popular and most likely to meet you needs.

You might find the search tips in this (perhaps) related community article helpful — at least I hope so.

Hi @[deleted]

You can use issue links to create your own hierarchy.

We have created an app to visualize the hierarchy and track the progress at each hierarchy level,

Agile Tools - Epic Tree, Links Tree and Time in Status

Key features of Links Hierarchy:

  • Hierarchy upto 10 levels deep
  • Progress % on "remaining estimate" or "original estimates"
  • Edit Issue summary, time estimates, story points and assignee on the tree with real time updates in the progress
  • Rolled up percentage completion at all levels
  • Ability to add/remove the columns on the report

You get multiple other features as below in the same app

  • More than 8 types of Time in Status Reports. Excel Export available for all status reports.
  • Epic Hierarchy / Sum Up (Standard Jira Hierarchy Epic -> Story -> SubTask)
  • Worklogs Report
  • Timesheet Entry screen
  • Dashboard gadgets for all the reports

Take a look at Big Picture.  It has worked well for our teams.  https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1212259/bigpicture-project-management-ppm?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

Hi @[deleted]

Taking into account your requirements, BigPicture seems to be a good match! It’s a comprehensive tool that supports project management in every phase, helps to plan, manage and track the projects.

Concerning your requirements: In BigPicture, you can automatically create a no-limited number of WBS levels. Task Structure can be created based on both build-in task attributes (e.g., Epic link, Component, Version, Sprint) as well as links.

Moreover, the Board module visualizes Jira Sprints and highlights new feature delivery dates and cross-team dependencies, making the planning process much more manageable.
