I am an administrator but am not able to delete an epic

I am the administrator to the project and confirmed I have 'Delete issues' permission.  But when I open the epic JIRA, I am do not see the option to delete under 'More'

I checked and realised I did not add my own profile to the team  of the project.  So even though I was an administrator to the site and therefore able to create epics, I was not able to delete the epic.
