I want to write an automation rule, where, when i assign a work item to a particular user, then the TEAMS field should get auto populated with a value. But Teams field is not coming in the actions option, while creating the rule.
Hello @deepthy g ,
The native Team field works a bit differently in Jira:
From what I tested, I couldn't update it using the team name, you must use the Team ID.
By default, the custom field ID for the native Team field is customfield_10001 (but this may vary by instance).
With that in mind, here’s the suggested structure that worked for me:
{
"fields": {
"customfield_10001": "2c70e7e3-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxx (TEAM ID)"
}
}
Note: You can find the Team ID by checking the URL of the team’s page.
Let me know if it works for you.
Hi @deepthy g
Is the Team field comes from the Advanced Roadmap?
If yes, please try this one:
Trigger:
When: Issue assigned
Condition:
If: Assignee = any specific user
Action → Edit issue fields → More options
Paste this JSON:
If it is a customfield, try this one:
{
"fields": {
"customfield_12345": "Team Name"
}
}

Hello @deepthy g
Usually, when using the Edit work item action, you can pick the Team from the selection field.
But in this case, you must manually select a team for each condition.
Hope this can help :)

Thank you for your response,
But the field Teams is not listing in the available fields to set the rule.

Hello @deepthy g
Just to confirm, we’re talking about the Jira Team field, right? https://support.atlassian.com/platform-experiences/docs/using-atlassian-teams-in-jira-projects/
If yes, you can follow the suggestion provided by @Gor Greyan
In the JSON, the "Team" field only accepts the ID of the team, not the team name.
I’m using the custom field ID instead of the name — in my instance, the Team field ID is 10600
{
"fields": {
"customfield_10600": "id of the team"
}
}
