How to view EPIC name in backlog in Next Gen Project

How can I show the Epic name in the backlog as per below.

First example works - See below screen shot of what it should look like in the backlog view – EPIC name highlighted in Red

Second example - See below issue that is a child of an Epic, but the Epic is not displaying as per above. Same Assignee.

so what is the origin of the two screenshots? in My next-gen project (test only) I see the epic listed in the backlog issues. The way NG works is that w/in the epic you can add a story which then becomes a child of the epic. when that is done is should display in the backlog.
