How to track a planed spring/release in Jira?

Basically what I want to see is that a batch of work, e.g. a Sprint / release / Epic, can be placed on a calendar or something. So that I can have a view of bigger plan. 

The way I understand it, a Sprint is not a schedule (with planned start and end dates), it has only a order on which it will be worked on.

A release seems will do, but it has 2 problems. One is that it's kind not linked to Sprint. I would like to think a release is not like a plan, but it's something becomes clear once Sprints are started and closed to be finished.

Any suggestion would be good.

I think you can try some add-ons, such as calendars or roadmaps.
