How to submit the CSR to a Certificate Authority for signing?

Laura Vallejo

This is the step 13 in the manual of "Running JIRA applications over SSL or HTTPS" to generate the java Keystore using Portecle.

Is it done using Portecle or any other tool?

Thank you!

Hi Laura,

I would definitely recommend you to get some help from the security department of your company if you have one. If not, in a few words, a Certificate Authority is an institution trusted by your network which signs certificates to stamp them as legit. Your browser will then find your certificate and check if that kind of authority has validated it. This usually is a paid service offered by many providers, some companies also have their own certificate authority (internal) which is not universally accepted by runs SSL over the company's network.

Hope this helps!

Cheers
