Hi,

I’ve deactivated one of our users and finally deleted his account since he kept receiving email notifications from our Jira projects updates.  However, to date he still received the emails after I have done all above months ago.  What should I do from here to stop those notifications?

Much appreciated,

Angeline

Hi @Angeline Wu , something is amiss here. Deactivating a user will absolutely prevent them from receiving any email notifications. You don't need to delete a user to achieve this. I suspect there is some other notification mechanism going on or at least that's what I would look for first. I would check for automation, possibly sending direct emails to a group or specific users. One question, do you use any add on email handler. In other words, our email notifications potentially being sent from anything other than the native notifications capabilities in Jira? Also, check if there is potentially a secondary user listed with this individual's email address. Other things to test/investigate

  • if you create a test issue, are you able to assign that issue to the individual in question?
  • What projects is the individual getting notifications for? I would interrogate those projects closely to understand why this might be the case.
  • are you using AD or simply the native Jira user management?
