Hi guys,

Im partner in a car dealership company and Id like to see if we can use JIRA Core as a "Management" platform before going ahead with a custom development.

I tried to set up the environment but concepts are not clear to me (even though I use Jira Software). Our main goal is to have a clear vision on what needs to be completed and Jira Boards I think they can help.

When we buy a new unit (car) it needs to pass for the following process before being sold:

1- Check whether or not the car has passed the ITV (ITV is a certification that cars need to pass to be able to be driven)

2- Car Cleaning

3- Pictures taken

4- Online publishing: It consist of take the pictures taken in step 3 and upload them on multiple websites

5- Mechanical evaluation

6- Reserved

7- Delivered

The way I thought is the following but not sure if it can be set up this way. A project called "Operations" have issues (in our case, vehicles) which follow the previous workflow.

Does it make sense?

Hi Ricardo,

I understand...this level of customization can be daunting. Unfortunately, it's way too much to be able to outline through the Community. It's a great place to bring questions and ask for help on specific items, but a full design would be difficult to do.

There are some very good tutorials available on YouTube, here are a few that will help:

Two words of advice:

1) Don't delete or change any of the default screens, fields, etc. Make a copy and modify that instead.

2) Write it out first. It's easier to work from a list of things to create than to invent it as you go along.

HI Ricardo,

Yes, that makes sense to me. As I think through it I can see where a custom issue type "Vehicle" would fit this workflow. You'd need to include custom fields for things like the VIN, make and model, etc. I suggest that when you write out the workflow as you've outlined you also include transition screens with some required fields that capture feedback or notes from the ITV check, the mechanical evaluation, etc.

I also suggest that you draw it out on paper beforehand; this could be fairly complex, so having an outline of the workflow, screens, and field definitions will prove invaluable.

Good luck!
