I want to know if there is a possibility to set up automation rules that handle interaction between different types of issues for example if a certain type of issue moves to a certain status a field is updated in the other type of issue.

If you have problems after you have started your rule, please post images of your complete rule and the audit log details showing the rule execution, and explain what is not working as you expected. That will give the community context to help.
