I need to set copy/paste of the issue's title. I checked many plugins and extensions and could not find any good decision. Please can somebody recommend me the good way to do it. And it would be the great to have a possibility to copy the title edit with regular expression. Thank you so much!

Hello @Alexander

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Per your description, I understand you would like to edit the text in the summary of your issue with a regular expression, however, containing the original text it was added there in the issue creation. Is that correct?

Can you confirm if you are using Jira Cloud or Server?

If you are using Jira Cloud, you can use the default automation functionality to achieve what you need. These would be the steps:

  1. Navigate to your project > Project settings > Automation
  2. Create the following Automation rule, using the parameter "{{issue.summary}}" to paste the original issue title where you want between any expression:

For Jira Server, I'm afraid the same automation feature is not available, however, you can install the third-party app that provides you with the same automation:

Automation for Jira - Server

I have a similar request too.

There are several items of text within my summary that I wish to copy and paste into the description section. The first step I've identified so far is to convert the email from HTML Wiki markup to plain text to make it easier to work with.

From there, I don't know what to do next to "copy" or parse out those specific lines, then to paste them. I imagine I'd need to establish those lines/texts as variables/smart values, then play around with the automation rules to copy and paste those created smart values.

What I'm getting at: I receive an email in my service desk. I want Jira to automatically parse out the body of the email, so the description of the ticket, and to paste certain text items into the summary. I want this process automated so I don't have to constantly read the ticket and type out the information I need to see in the summary.

Hello @Erika Shek

You can easily copy whole text fields using Smart values, however, I'm afraid it is not possible to copy only specific lines from a text field using automation for Jira.

The best way to achieve it would be to use multiple fields to detail the information you need and copy it to your description field using smart values.
