How to see a time estimate summary for a release version?

Is there a way to add a time estimate sum to a release/version page within Jira? I've search through all of the configuration settings I could find, but came up empty. All I want to do is be able to look at a release page and see how much time is estimate for all of the open tickets to understand how we're tracking towards the release date. If I have to write an add-on for it, I'd also consider that, but I can't find a way to add items to a release page.
