How to restore XML file without wipe out existing data?

I am trying to restore my two different xml files. But when i start 2nd xml file, the first one is wipe out. Can you please tell me how overcome with this issue.Thanks....

Import the first file whole, then use "project import" to pull in issues from the second one.  You'll need to set up the projects to import into manually though.
