My project had a user removed from it, but their avatars still show up in the backlog section in software boards.

I followed these steps but they didn't help because there is no issue assigned to the inactive user.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Thank you in advance.

Hello @Gleyson Borges

How did you determine that there are no issues assigned to the user?

Does your board display work items from more than one project?

Has Issue Security been implemented in the project(s) from which the work items are selected?

Hey Trudy!

When I select the inactive user on the backlog, there are no issues there (see attached file)

The article you referenced provides instructions for searching for all issues assigned to the user, not just searching for issues by filtering the current backlog. And instructs that the assignee should be changed on all of them.

The filter that you are using in the backlog screen will show you only the issues currently visible in the backlog that might be assigned to that user. Issues in the project that have already been completed and no longer display in the board may still be assigned to that user. Perhaps that is what is causing the avatar to remain in the board.

I don't know for a fact that is the case, and I don't have an environment where I can test that theory.

Have you considered reassigning the previously completed issues to another user?

Hello @Gleyson Borges

Did you find the root cause for the users still showing up in the filters?
