How to remove a mandatory field "Time Spent" from Jira while creating a new task

Hi, 

I have a problem in my Jira account. When i try to create a new task, it shows "Time Spent" as mandatory field. I don't know why it is showing this field. As we do not know the time spent while creating a task. That is why i want to hide this "Time Spent" field at the time of new task creation. I have this problem on some projects. Rest of projects did not require "Time Spent" as mandatory field at the time of new task creation.

Had the same issue. You need to remove "Log Work" field from your screen. But it will remove all those 3 fields mentioned in the Question Marc next to Time Spent. Which we didnt need any of them.

My guess is that the field is set to required - https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiracloud/specifying-field-behavior-776636443.html  Then once it is added to a screen you will not be able to move forward until it has a value.  If it is not needed on issue create then you will need to work to have it removed on the screen associated with issue create on the projects you are seeing it on.  https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiracloud/defining-a-screen-776636475.html

The screen might be shared with different projects or different transitions so you might have to create a new screen to not impact the other transitions.
