How to prevent hiding of my draft comment when I switch temporarily to a different app?

While I was drafting a comment in a bug, I switched a few times to another browser to get some info and come back. The first ~3 times I did this, my draft was visible when I returned. But after that, there was no visible sign of my draft, not even as a hidden comment that could be re-expanded.

I selected the reply button to the same comment as my draft had been for, and my draft suddenly appeared.

If this is working as designed, is there a setting to disable this so that draft comments are never hidden? Note that the browser was not relaunched during this; instead the jira page decided I didn't need to see my draft anymore.

Hi @David Pautler

Your draft is saved; Jira now preserves threaded comment replies (JRACLOUD-97163), so clicking Reply on that comment restores your text.

There is no setting to keep the editor expanded or show a visual indicator for hidden drafts.

When the editor collapses while switching applications, test the behavior in a different supported browser to see whether it persists.

As a side note, this thread was posted in the Trello section, but it describes Jira Cloud comment behavior.

Best,

That's odd. The breadcrumbing indicates Jira.

I filed a Suggested Improvement, but received no automated email confirmation nor link, so I can't share it here so that others might upvote it.
