HI @Mary Gordon
Apologies, but I don't quite get your question here:
The challenge starts when we have a user story containing subtasks for different persons, because then we can’t move the specific sub tasks on the board (with the logic that once all subtasks are done the user story is done).
What is the problem with the above? What kind of movement you want to perform, who do you want this move to be performed by, and why you can't move the subtasks?
So we too and that they are visible on the board (not only when opening the user story and seeing all the child issues).
And again apologies, but I don't quite get what you want to say from the sentence above. Maybe the fact that I'm not an native English speaker.

Hi Alex!
I can answer since it is mainly happening on my board but I had problems posting the question so I got help from Mary.
The problem is that we want the board to be grouped on epics as you can see in the screen shots. The next level is user stories. Within the user stories we have subtasks for different people in the team working on that specific story. We would like the team members to be able to move the subtasks between our different columns on the board (doing, review etc) so the subtasks are visible on the board. Right now they can only change the status of the subtask, but it isn't moving on the board. We only see the subtask(s) and the status(es) when opening the specific user story. We would like the subtasks to be visible on the board just like the actual story. And once all subtasks are done, the story is done too.

Thanx @[deleted] for pitching in :)
Are you on a team-managed project or company managed project? If you are on the former, then the only way to view them is by grouping them:
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/manage-subtasks-in-team-managed-projects/
If you want all issues to be visible on a board, then you should go on a company-managed project, which is more versatile on these matters.

Team-managed project. :)
Yeah we tried out the grouping by subtasks, but as I said (via Mary) in the question above: "It isn’t helping to group by subtask either because then the whole idea with epics, prio order and easy overview for everyone in the company disappears instead and the board becomes really messy."
Company managed projects are these existing in a free version too or only paid (since we are only trying out Jira at this point)?
