We are in the process of migrating from Jira Software (self hosted server) to Jira Cloud.
We moved few projects to cloud already. The users are still using Jira software on self hosted server. How can I move the recently added issues and changes from Jira software (self hosted server) to Jira Cloud. I want to see the new changes moved to the Jira cloud on the same projects. Please let me know the process.
Hi @[deleted] , If you are interested in the migration process as a whole please start here - https://www.atlassian.com/migration/plan/cloud-guide .
Now if you are simply wanting to test a few issues out in cloud that have previously been created in the server then I would recommend exploding those issues to a CSV file and then using the import feature. The import feature can be found under settings > System > import and export on the side bar.
If I have missed the target on your question please let me know.
Thanks Jack for your response.
We have around 40 projects and around 300 users. It will be a difficult task to keep track of the issues and move them into cloud using import feature. Do you know of any method to move the differentials from Jira server to Jira Cloud, for e.g. in the below scenario, I want to push the changes from 02/18 to 02/21 on Jira Cloud which was migrated on 02/17.
Jira Server (Self Hosted server) Jira Cloud
Project A (02/18, 02/19, 02/20, 02/21) --> Project A ( First migrated on 02/17/2023)

If I understand you correctly, you are implying that there will not be single cut over for any given project. Rather, you’ll take a snapshot and allow the teams to continue to use server until they are fully on Cloud? What this means is that you will have to continue to sync changes between the two. In my opinion, this is not a good plan. What I would recommend would be to move over an entire project/team shutting down the server project once the cloud project is online. I don’t know of any means of syncing between the two. However, you might check the marketplace or better yet reach out to a partner to discuss the migration.
