How to make specific fields on an issue private?

Is there a way to configure certain fields on an issue type private to certain users in a group? For example, I want to be able to hide the time tracking fields from clients.

Is there a way to do this without using a plugin? Or if I do need a plugin, what's the best one to be able to do this?

You do need a plugin, unfortunately. there is no going around that. The one I can recommend:

Thanks for your reply! That looks like a great plugin but I think it's only usable on the server and data center. Do you happen to have any recommendations for plugins that work for the cloud? Unless that plugin would work for the cloud too? Admittedly I'm not fully clear on the differences between the hosting.
