How to make comments appear in Jira as Text but not as HTML?

The comments added under Jira tickets appear in HTML format. How to change them to apprear as plain Text?

Hi @Chaya Bhagavathi -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Are you typing in (or pasting in) HTML in the comment? 

Have you instead tried pasting in plain text?  One way to do that is to paste your source into a plain-text editor first, re-copy the text, and then paste.
