How to make a field description blank when default field configuration has a description?

I have noticed that when there is a description set for a field in the Default field configuration, that description is pushed onto all field configurations.  When I try to remove that description for a specific field configuration, JIRA just puts it back.

I have been putting in an html blank & nbsp ; but this puts a little extra whitespace beneath the field.

Is there a way to have a project specific field configuration override the default configuration for a blank field description?

Hi @Derek Sheeman,

As long as you have a specific field configuration (not the default one), it should not show any data for description unless you set the value.

However, you can also use a native post function "Update Issue Field" on the create the transition to clear the description value. See the screenshot below :
