How to know home many are using a tool or plugin for a particular project

Swetha Bammidi December 20, 2019

Hi,

I want to know how many users are using a particular Atlassian tool or plugin in a particular project.

For example, I have below a list of tools and plugins in my system.

Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo/Jenkins, Zephyr, Big picture, Tempo, JSD

This report I need to capture how many licenses are utilized in a particular project level. How would I know the number of users using this in a particular project?

Regards,

Swetha

There is no way to do this at a generic "plugin is used by" level.  Each app provides different functions and you would need to look at how each function is used and tie that to the project(s) somehow.  To look at two of what you mention, Tempo gives you timesheets (not tied to any project) and Zephyr provides test cases (again, not necessarily tied to a project)

If you want to see "usage" of an app, you will need to design measurements for each and every app you have.

Even if you did that, you will find that the information is not actually particularly useful.  Taking my employer as an example, we use Tempo for timesheets.  About 1/3 of the company do timesheets as their data feeds into payment systems, and Tempo makes it a lot easier to enter and report on that data.  It is utterly irrelevant how the plugin is used - it's useful for some of us, so we have it.  Analysing our usage of it would be a complete waste of time.
