How to integrate on-premise Jira v7.3.0 and on-premise gitlab version 15.0

Hi, we use on-premise JIRA v7.3.0 and on-premise GitLab v15.0.

How can we integrate these applications for free and without using third-party products or plugins? Let's say I pushed some code on Git, and we want the commits and pushes to be visible in the Jira task.

Other question, why are you still on V7, currently V10 or even V11 is the version to be on?
