Q: I’ve logged into the Rovo Dev CLI—how do I integrate it with Jira and Bitbucket?

A: You’re in luck! Rovo Dev CLI is designed to work seamlessly with Jira, Bitbucket, and other Atlassian tools via the MCP server. Here’s how to get set up:

Step 1 – Enable Rovo Dev Agents on Your Atlassian Site

  • Navigate to your Atlassian administration area.
  • Install the Rovo Dev Agents app—only users with site admin permissions can do this.
  • If you want features like Code Reviews in Bitbucket, make sure to:
    • Connect Bitbucket (or GitHub) to your Jira site.
    • Add the appropriate users to the rovo-dev-agents-admins and rovo-dev-users groups.

Step 2 – Install and Authenticate Rovo Dev CLI

  • Ensure you have the Atlassian CLI (ACLI) installed or updated.
  • Create an Atlassian API token via your profile settings.
  • In your terminal, authenticate with:
acli rovodev auth login

Then start an interactive session with:

acli rovodev run

This allows Rovo Dev CLI to communicate with Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, and other connected tools.

Step 3 – Use Rovo Dev CLI with Jira and Bitbucket

  • Once logged in, you can prompt Rovo Dev to retrieve and act on Jira issues, review pull requests, or manage branches, all directly from your terminal.
  • For example, ask it to:
    • Show Jira items assigned to you
    • Create or merge PRs in Bitbucket
    • Rovo Dev will use the MCP server to connect with your Jira and Bitbucket services.
