How to hide custom fields in JQL/Where's my Field? when field is not in field configuration

Hi,

We have several different types of project configurations, each with it's own Field Configuration. Have gone through and did a 'Hide' on all fields that are not part of the configuration. I was thinking this would affect JQL when typing a query and specifying a project so that it would then only allow the projects fields from the field configuration as a valid search. Also the "where's my field?" admin option.

Is there a way to restrict the fields shown on these operations to the project's field configuration or it will always show all the custom fields in the system?

Thanks - Rick

You don't want to restrict it in "where's my field" - the whole point of that function is to tell you why a field is not there, and one of the reasons for a missing field is "hidden by field config"

In the search, there's no way to do this either.  Unlike doing it in the "where's my field", it would be useful to restrict by project.  Although it could get complex if users are searching many projects, it would be good for users to limit field lists to any in any project named.  But we can't yet do it I'm afraid.
