I want to hide a field on the create work item screen. I do not wish to remove the field all together, but it would be beneficial to hide it on the create screen.
Hello @Jennefer Wong ,
Good day! Welcome to Atlassian Community :)
Team-managed projects are basic projects with few customizations, so there is no option to set which issues will be displayed in the create or in the edit issue screen, as we can do in company-managed projects.
However, there is an option for the users to hide custom fields from their create issue screen by:
This setting is personal, so each user must change their own configuration.
We have a few public suggestions to improve this behavior:
In Company managed projects, you can hide your required field from create issue screen. by:
You can find detailed information here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/add-a-custom-field-to-a-screen/

Hello @Jennefer Wong ,
You can have separate view screen and create screen configured. Then if the custom field is not in create screen, you will not be able to create the custom field. In view screen you have the customfield.

Hello @Jennefer Wong
What type of project does this concern?
If it is a Company Managed project you can define a screen that is used for the Create operation and a separate screen that is used for the View/Edit operations. In that case you would simply not include the field in the screen used for the Create operation.
Can you provide more information about why you would not want the field available when creating the item, but would want it available when viewing or editing the item?

Hello. Yes, it is a company managed project.
The reason we don't want it on the create screen is because it's a lengthy drop-down (custom field) and makes the create screen too long.
Thank you for the information.
