How to have a default group in all projects?

Paradis Zarei October 13, 2022

I would like to have our IT group in all projects, so when new projects been created this group will by default be a member. How can I do this?

Hi @Paradis Zarei

If your projects are company managed, then add that group to the desired permissions in a default permission scheme. Then make sure to use that permission scheme in every project you create.

I don't think there's a way to do that for team managed projects, but that is consistent with their purpose: to be used and managed by the team only and autonomously.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

I already tried it before this post. We do use company based and the scheme is there ( and the group) but when a new project was created the user in the group could not do anything and that was the creator of the project.

That means something did not go according to plan. 😅

The group must be associated with all required permissions inside the permission scheme itself. i.e. that group must be explicitly listed in the scheme with e.g. the browse project, create issues, add attachments, ... permissions. Each and every one that matters. Not linked to a role.

Do make sure that the permission scheme of the new project IS the permission scheme you consider to be the default. If it isn't, then you'll see a totally different set of permissions being applied.
